Cloud died today. Cloud died today. He would have been 15 in May. We are staying in a studio apartment and he came down the stairs a little too fast and slipped on the last step fell on the tile floor. At hsi age his bones are very brittle. He broke his right front leg in three pieces. It would have taken extensive surgery in Guadalajara about four from here. We decided to put him down. It was a heart breaking decision. He had really slowed down in the last few days, seldom wanting to go out.
We rushed to a vet nearby who turned out to be terrific. He spoke excellent English and guided carefully and caringly through all our options and then the process of putting Cloud to sleep. It is very painful but it is best for him. He went peacefully with us holding him. He is buried here in Mexico. He loved being here as much as us. It was a good place for him to die.
We will miss him so much. What a great companion and traveler. He has seen much of the United States and Mexico. But I think he knew he was loved.
